Annotated Bibliography
For this specific advocacy topic, we are searching for sources that will allow our audience to understand the seriousness of the topic. Sure, we want our audience to drink red wine to help them relax and loosen up, but we mainly want them to realize the benefits of drinking wine. The sources that we will be using to make our campaign legitimate will be ones that we feel are reasonable and serious. The sources are going to be either from doctors, clinics, research, etc. that has proven the health benefits of drinking wine or have seen the improvements in society's health based on intake of red wine. Yes, we want this to be a layed back, humorous advocacy but we also want to show people the serious side and benefits of drinking red wine so that it is a win win for everyone involved with wine!
The type of sources that we plan on using will all be ones that have accredited people involved with them. They will show the audience how much research has gone into finding, debating, and proving the health benefits of drinking more wine. The sources are the reason for our "wine... or die" tagline, because seriously, there are health benefits that people may be simply overlooking. We would like to reach out to our community, peers, etc. to show them that once you are of age you can enjoy wine even more and drink it for a purpose other than relaxing and unwinding. The following sources are the ones that we plan on using for our adovocacy project:
Staff, Mayo Clinic. "Red Wine and Resveratrol: Good for Your Heart?" Mayo Clinic. Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research, 04 Mar. 2011. Web. 29 Apr. 2013.
This is a forum that describes the basics of health benefits of red wine. This site talks about the basic chemicals that are in any red wine and contribute to the basic health benefits. This source is specifically good because of the honesty it provides. This was chosen because we believe that it explains our campaign perfectly. While doctors are still “wary” of encouraging people to drink more wine, the health benefits that come along with a glass per night our ones that should not be ignored. This source is written by the Mayo Staff Clinic, these people are a not-for-profit medical practice and medical research group based in Rochester, Minnesota.
We believe that their research collaboration will serve as a good tool for our audience to understand the benefits of wine. We decided that they use the pathos point because they are persuading us through the use of logics. We feel as if this will serve to our audience because it provides a serious research project of health benefits.
